Jeff Hanneman of Slayer dies

jeff

Co-founder/guitarist of Slayer passed away this morning of liver failure. The long time publicist of the band stated this:

“Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home.  He was 49.  Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure.  He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.”

Hope you are shredding your guitar with the other greats that have passed away!! Keep your horns high and we will see you again!

It is my deepest condolences to the Cheng family and to all of his friends and family. Chi unfortunately passed away this morning at 3 am in the hospital. He leaves behind a wonderful family. Your spirit will always live on through your music.

Our dearest Family,
This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emegency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear. He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable. If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the onelove site. Please hold Mae and Ming
and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.
With great love and “Much Respect!” Mom J (and Chi)

the revival tour

In the past 6 years or so, there has been a huge movement of front men going on solo tours and folk rock vocalist joining them on the road. This movement has been coined the “Revival Movement”. It has mainly been in the punk rock scene with Mike Ness (Social Distortion), Nick 13 (Tiger Army), Tony Sly (No Use For A Name), Joey Cape (Lagwagon/Bad Astronaut/Me First And The Gimme Gimmes), Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio/Heavens/And The Sekrets), just to name a small few. They have put their electric guitars on hold and picked up their acoustics and gone on unplugged tours. In this article, I’m going to talk about 4 amazing musicians that graced The Revival Tour stage for the 2012 tour; Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), Cory Branan and Nathaniel Rateliff.
